The preview reception for the Storefront Artist Project's annual 12x12 had a steady stream of folks who came to preview original works of art, which will be, raffled off Sunday, December 12, 5 – 8 p.m.
Bargain hunters (original artwork going for $25 each raffle ticket) were busy scanning the walls for their favorite pieces with eager anticipation that on the night of the raffle that the one they were eyeballing will be their prize the night of the raffle. Of course, the only way to improve your odds is to buy as many tickets as possible.
Participating artists: Barbara Arpante, Terry Wise, Autumn Doyle, Stephen Lussier, Grier Horner, Mark Mellinger, Scott Taylor, Barbara Heaphy, Lisa Merullo, Eric Korenman, Susan Geller, Kent Mikalsen, Dawn Martin, Douglas Paisley, Bill Wright, Ken Green, Jennifer Kimball, Joshua McHugh, Julio Granda, Leo Mazzeo, Edward Pelkey, Paul Graubard, Julio E. Glacier, Karen Chase and Paul Graubard. Plus there is Gregory Scheckler who went to Notre Dame. Yeah, I love my fighting Irish.
But hold on, several “new participants” donated to the show this year. This is great because we want this event to grow every year and seeing the new folks on board was all good especially since the proceeds fund SAP’s Mentor Program, which gives high school students the opportunity to work one-on-one with a professional artist for a semester.
I can see that 12x12 on the night of December 12 will be one fun art house because a $25 raffle ticket gets you a ticket but you have to wait until your number is called before you get to pick out the artwork of your choice. There is a possibility that the one you want may already be gone. I encourage everyone to get more than one ticket in case you don't get your first, second or third pick. Remember, this is for a good cause. I say, "Improve your odds!"
According to Julia Dixon, SAP's Director the show has over 60 pieces of donated artwork. Click here for a preview of what will be raffled off. (link to SAP slideshow)
